A four-month DEIB-informed virtual course to develop integrated, intentional, and inclusive research leaders in the Academy

Course Features

 

Context-based active learning

Pod meetings and accompanying workbook material between sessions

Two or more ATG facilitators with relevant expertise for each session

Interstitial work between sessions, such as reflective writing, pod discussions of assigned material (text or video), and an individual meeting with facilitator

Introduction to Leadership
Systems and context

September 27 & 28
1 to 5 p.m. EST


Participants explore the meaning of leadership, the concept of leading a system, and the impact of self-awareness and self-management on the system they lead.

Intentional Leadership
Values and vision

October 25
1 to 5 p.m. EST


Participants learn the roles of a leader in setting the vision and tone and understand the foundations from which they lead.

Inclusive Communication
Clear communication and
team dynamics

1 to 5 p.m. EST


Integrated Leadership
Culture creation and maintenance

December 13
1 to 5 p.m. EST

Participants deepen communications skills using exercises and scenarios based on real-life academy situations.


Participants learn the value of establishing agreements and norms, and the skills to encourage the team to work at their best toward shared goals.
